Match Play scoring

Match Play scoring and handicapping differs from the better known Stroke Play format.

Next tee match play scoring calculatorThe basis for the Match Play round scoring is the number of holes won by the player (or team). In this format, the player who has fewer strokes per hole than his opponent wins the hole. The player with the most holes won wins the round. The final score does not depend on the total number of strokes.

In Match Play a number of the additional, handicap strokes is also calculated differently.

The Match Play calculators allow you to calculate both individual holes and round scores on any golf course. The calculators also compute the number of additional handicap strokes for net competitions. It is only necessary to enter the players’ handicap indexes and the course rating data.
